Read-a-Thon Mini Challenge

Aside from the obvious reading, what else do you do during the Read-a-thon? For me, it’s eating! I know, I know, that doesn’t sound very healthy… and honestly it’s not ;). But since eating is one of the things that keeps me going I decided to do a food themed challenge.

Imagine that this Read-a-thon is one large, worldwide food fight! Yes, you heard right…food fight!! You have to defend yourself, your blog, and your books!

To enter this challenge, post a comment letting me know what food you’ll be reaching for when the battle begins! If you want to go a step further, you can pick a method to deliver your attack. AND if you want to go even further, you can pick a fellow read-a-thon’er to target!

Fun right?!! I’ll get us started by using a remote controlled hot air balloon (with GPS of course) to drop a big vat of cheesy mashed potatoes on Wendy @ Wall-to-Wall books.

SPLAT!!!

Now it’s your turn! You have TWO hours to enter. Contest closes at 4:59am (EST)
Make sure to include your email so I can contact the winner!

Remember to keep it relatively safe, no bodily harm should come from your food item ;)

The winner will be able to choose up to $15 worth of books from Book Depository.com

**Since I am heading to bed soon, I will announce a winner later in the morning! Happy Reading everyone!!

Wendy Targets Ashley from Fictionista -
I load big fat glob of guacamole (you know the green gooey stuff) onto a huge serving spoon and cat-a-pult it right into Ashley's chest - Ha! Gotcha!

  5. I target Lizziey from http://lizziey.livejournal.com and pellet her with lots of small original Danish pastries bought IN Denmark (... where we actually call them "Bread from Vienna"... but that's a tangent for a different day).

  6. Since I'm currently reading an Indian book (The Wit of Tenali Raman by Devika Rangachari), I feel inspired to choose an Indian dish: Palak paneer. Method of delivery will be a miniature catapult to ensure range. :)

  7. Grosssss I hate guacamole!!!

I'm going to target Alexis from Reflections of a Bookaholic by dumping a whole jar of spaghetti sauce on her head :-X

  8. I would use a BB Gun to shoot mushed peas at Aneeqah @ My Not So Real Life. Peas are mushy and annoying when they are constantly hitting you. =)

  9. I am pretty much just spraying Reddi-Wip indiscriminately on everyone! (For those who don't know -- do they have Reddi-Wip in places other than the U.S.? -- that's whipped cream in a can.)

  10. One of my readathon books has been Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. In the book, Jenny and her husband, Victor, engage in a popcorn fight at a movie theater. So, in honor of Jenny & Victor, I'm using popcorn for my food fight weapon. It's small, but mighty!

  11. I find pizzas to be a rather affective weapon, I'd whip them around like frisbees and then SPLAT tomato sauce and cheese to the face... or if the crust is rather hard, a very nasty bruise, whoops.

  17. I'm launching the rest of this red velvet cake @heidenkind (Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Books). I wonder if she's still awake? If not, that ought to wake her up. ;O)

    Thanks for the fun!

  18. Can I throw two things? Good, because that's what's going down. In one hand I have a nice bowl full of buttery mashed potato goodness and in the other I have a huge vat of spaghetti with tons of sauce. I think I'll eat just a little bit before I throw it, though...

  19. I'm throwing food related to my current read (Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett). I'm going to deliver a portion of Wow-Wow sauce (the hottest sauce you've ever come across and a Discworld speciality) using a magic propelled snowglobe.

  20. My first thought: No way! My second thought: I could throw fried okra at Jan @ Yearning for God, simply because I ought to visit her blog during this Readathon. I wonder if she's asleep, though, at 3:30 in the morning. Instead of throwing the fried okra, I should give it to a little bird who will hold onto it until Jan emerges from her house to go to church in the morning. Then the bird would dive-bomb her with fried okra, which would bounce harmlessly off and do no damage. It wouldn't even hurt. Yup, that's what I'll do. Okay, Jan, you're on! (Okra doesn't go SPLAT! Maybe Bonk? Plink?) So the little birdy drops these one at a time, and we hear, "Bonk, plinkity, bink, plink, plonk." Or something like that. *Waving* Hi, Jan!

My blog post which shows a huge pile of fried okra:

  22. I'm ready to throw some pumpkin soup over my e-reader! I'm reading I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella and the main character is eating cold pumpkin soup and she's too shy to make a complaint. But she's very silly anyway and I'm just about done with her!

  27. McDonalds always insist in bringing a lot of ketchup when they delivers to me, so I will be collecting all the ketchup and run around with my hands drowned within the red sauce and cover everybody in it.

(This actually happened to me a few days ago... we were three people ending up with ketchup al over ourselves... not sure where it started, but after we calmed down we all hit the showers)

  28. I am going to throw some chocolate mousse out of a huge big syringe!

  29. I'm throwing watermelons!!! I just finished a glass of Watermelon juice, so there's a good 80% of watermelon chunks that are FLYING in the air via my catapult. They are heading for Priya @ Tabula Rasa cause I know she just went to sleep from her blog update :)
