Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack) by Suzanne Wright

**OVER 18 REVIEW**

Goodreads Description:

If your inner wolf and your body react rather enthusiastically to a psychotic Alpha male who’s own wolf has a tendency to turn feral, it can’t be a good thing, can it? Entering into a bargain with him wouldn’t be good either. Unfortunately, Taryn Warner, a latent wolf shifter, doesn’t have many options open to her right now. Okay, she has no options. Basically it comes down to whether she’ll do what it takes to escape the arranged mating with the sick SOB that her father set up. As the answer in this case is yes, it looks as though she’ll have to agree to Trey Coleman’s deal…she’ll have to mate with him instead.

Having always disliked shifter politics, Trey Coleman hadn’t bothered trying to form alliances with other packs. Now that his uncle – a wolf with many alliances – means to take Trey’s territory and his pack, he has no option but to form some alliances of his own very quickly or he’ll be easily outnumbered in the upcoming battle. He figures that the easiest way to do that would be to mate with a female who’s Alpha is powerful and influential. There’s only one problem with that – he would then be stuck with her, and the last thing Trey wants is a mate. When he hears of Taryn’s situation, he offers her a deal – if she falsely claims he’s her true mate and allows him to claim her, he’ll save her from her arranged mating and then let her leave after the battle with his uncle is over.

Sounds like a pretty straightforward deal...but soon Taryn and Trey realize they got more than they bargained for. Their mating instincts to protect and possess are weighing on them, they crave each other’s touch and company, and their inner wolves don’t like it whenever they’re apart. Add in that they’ll have to deal with this for an entire three months until the day of the battle finally arrives, and they’ve got themselves a recipe for disaster – or maybe for something quite the opposite.

Warning: This novel contains an extremely sarcastic Alpha female, a broody possessive Alpha male, bitter in-laws, voyeuristic enforcers, a whole lot of dirty talk, and steamy bedroom battles for dominance. Reader Advisory: This book also contains a graphic ménage scene - not for the faint-hearted.

My Thoughts:

I was pulled into this story from the very beginning and it was very hard to put down. If I would've had more "me time" I would've finished it in one sitting. Instead it was a weekend read.

I really liked that this one was different that other werewolf books I have read. The characters are more wolf-like in their reactions and decisions than in other "shifter" books. That is just the impression I got from it.

Trey and Taryn are both Alphas even though Taryn is latent (unable to shift). This causes them to but heads pretty often. There is also alot of funny banter within this book.

I loved this story and I am very eager for book 2 "Wicked Cravings" that is expected to be published in March of next year.

As a general rule I don't usually read other reviews on books right before reading them and I am glad I didn't. I found that alot of reviewers had issues with the scene that is mentioned in the description as a *Warning*. I however did not. I thought it was a very sexy scene and I am glad I was able to read this version. According to the authors blog Feral Sins is being professionally edited and will be published and available in multiple formats in Feb 2013. A stipulation of the publisher is that sex scenes only be between two characters so the group scene is to be relpaced with one that is only Trey and Taryn. You can read more about that here.

Favorite Quotes:

"All I know is that I don't want you to leave. If you do I'll hunt you down and bring you back, Taryn. I shit you not, I will. Not because of our deal or my wolf, but because I want you here with me." -Trey

The next one is a short conversation between Trey and Taryn regarding Greta, Treys grandmother.

"I know she's being a little difficult right now, but she's one of those people who grow on you."
"No she's one of those people who are like Slinkies."
"Slinkies?"
"Yeah. Basically useless, but they make you smile when you push them down the stairs."

Bared to You (Crossfire #1) by Sylvia Day

 **OVER 18 REVIEW**

Our journey began in fire…Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning into the darkness- beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we could become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart…

My Review:

I like Gideon’s and Eva’s characters but them together is just disturbing. They both have dark pasts that could easily destroy their present before it even begins. They want to be together but how can they be happy when being together creates volatile situations? Can they work together to get beyond the past?

I really enjoyed this book, it’s well written and you easily get caught up in the story and wonder what can possibly happen next. I mean how can two people be so right for each other and be so wrong for each other at the same time!? I know I’m stuck on their relationship but there is more to the book than that. I’m looking forward to seeing where the author takes the story.

Stranger by Megan Hart

OVER 18 REVIEW

Funeral director Grace Frawley faces loss each day, so she has decided that paying strangers for sex would be the best way to save herself from experiencing loss herself. Then she meets Sam, and Grace wonders if she can go back to the impersonal. Original.

My Review:

I have only read a few erotica books and I was undecided whether or not I wanted to review them on here. I’m still not sure how many I’ll post but we’ll see how it goes. Anyway, I decided to review this book because it’s really good simple as that. A couple of the erotica’s that I’ve read have been sex (albeit hot sex) and some random plot…almost like the plot was added around the sex scenes. Stranger is different, it’s a well-rounded book with good characters, an interesting plot, and of course sex…lots of sex. It almost felt like a contemporary romance with more sex and some mild role playing. My only gripe with the book is that the ending seemed rushed. But aside from that, I can definitely see myself reading more of Megan Hart’s erotica’s.
