Warm Hawaiian sun. Lazy beach days. Flirty texts with her boyfriend back in Seattle.
These are the things seventeen-year-old Sloane McIntyre pictured when she imagined the summer she'd be spending at her mom's home in Hawaii with her twin brother, Penn. Instead, after learning an unthinkable secret about her boyfriend, Tyler, and best friend, Mick, all she has is a fractured hand and a completely shattered heart.
Once she arrives in Honolulu, though, Sloane hopes that Hawaii might just be the escape she needs. With beach bonfires, old friends, exotic food, and the wonders of a waterproof cast, there's no reason Sloane shouldn't enjoy her summer. And when she meets Finn McAllister, the handsome son of a hotel magnate who doesn't always play by the rules, she knows he's the perfect distraction from everything that's so wrong back home.
But it turns out a measly ocean isn't nearly enough to stop all the emails, texts, and voicemails from her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend, desperate to explain away their betrayal. And as her casual connection with Finn grows deeper, Sloane's carefree summer might not be as easy to find as she'd hoped. Weighing years of history with Mick and Tyler against their deception, and the delicate possibility of new love, Sloane must decide when to forgive, and when to live for herself.

Things I liked about Summer of Sloane:

Location - I mean come on...Hawaii people! I'd love to see all of these places someday. Well that is if they exist in real life.

Characters - I liked Sloane's character and some of the side characters as well. I wonder if any of the side characters will get their own book in the future. Shep maybe? or Luce? Or Penn? I'd read any of their books for sure.

Family relationships - I love that Sloane has (mostly) good relationships with her family.

Water - I love being around water so I really enjoyed all of the ocean, pool, etc. scenes!

The message - There are some good take aways for the reader.

That would be a good summer reading challenge! Wouldn't it?

Does this book have texts in it? It mentions it in the beginning. I love email and texting books!
And again - love the cover!

    2. Well, heck! Let's start one!

      July or Aug?
Aug maybe - we'll need it then.
      Aug is cute book month!
You'll have to make a cute banner (you knew that was coming!) We will see if we can get other blogs to do it.
We will read as many "cute books" with super cute covers as we can in the month of Aug and blog about them. and maybe each do a giveaway or two???

Most of the books I read are cute anyway so sure lets run with the cute book month. We'll have to brainstorm a cooler name for it though :-P
