Anyone out there?

I just realized I haven’t posted since mid-November, yikes! That’s by far my longest absence since starting this blog almost 4 years ago.

I don’t know that I really have much to show for those missing months unfortunately. I just needed a break from the book world. I am slowly getting back into the swing of things though. I’ve been reading more blog posts, looking into some of the new releases coming up in 2015, and I’ve been checking Twitter a little more regularly.

The biggest thing I noticed since I’ve (sort of) been back is the drama. It seems like the book world cannot go more than two months without creating some crazy drama. Why is that?

Anywho, here are some random updates (bookish and non-bookish) on what I’ve been up to…

COVERS
I spotted two gorgeous covers in my perusing.

RECIPES
I found some cookie/bar/dessert recipes around the holidays that I can highly recommend.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies – these are very rich but they’re definitely groan worthy
Chewy Gingerbread Cookies with Lemon Glaze – I didn’t try the icing but the cookies themselves are very good!
Eggnog Cheesecake Cookie Bars – My hubby’s coworkers absolutely loved these.
Pumpkin Cheesecake - This was a HUGE hit at both Thanksgiving meals we went to.

More recipes I can recommend.

Chicken Pot Pie – Yum! I’ve made this twice since finding the recipe a couple months ago.
Meatloaf Cupcakes – Me recommending this is kind of monumental considering I despised meatloaf up until this when I made them. I will make a couple small adjustments the next time I make it but it will definitely become a repeat dinner choice.

MOVIES
I indulged in many many movies in my absence. Sharks, zombies, sappy Christmas movies, robocrocs, corny teen movies, talking raccoons, you name it I’ve watched it.

Last but certainly not least…THE SPELL IS BROKEN
My non-reading spell has been broken…at least temporarily. I read Bet Me by Jennifer Cruise this week. Check out Karen’s (For What It’s Worth) review if you’re curious about it. She loved it and I can definitely see why, it’s a great book.

How about you, what have you read lately?

  2. So glad to see you back in action. Luckily I try to stay away from the drama and usually I'm able to since many of the blogs I follow don't seem to get mixed up in it. Is it just me or does it seem like most drama centers around the ya genre? Luckily half or more of what I read is adult :-)

    1. Hhmm I guess I never paid close enough attention to realize if it's centered around YA. It's very possible though. I also try to stay as far away from drama as possible.
