The Secret of Ella & Micha (The Secret #1) by Jessica Sorensen

The Secret of Ella & Micha
by Jessica Sorensen

Series: The Secret #1
Genre: New Adult
Publisher:
I received this book at BEA, from Hachette (Grand Central Publishing), in exchange for an honest review.

Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.

Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it’s summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.

Micha is sexy, smart, confident, and can get under Ella’s skin like no one else can. He knows everything about her, including her darkest secrets. And he’s determined to bring his best friend, and the girl he loves back, no matter what it takes.

My Thoughts:

The amount of emotional baggage between Ella & Micha wouldn’t even begin to fit in a suitcase. They have tragic pasts and that makes this such a bitter sweet book but it’s written in such a way as to not weigh the reader down. I really appreciated that lighter writing style. I easily fell in love with both Ella & Micha and I was rooting for them to get their happily ever after throughout the whole book. I was also hoping Ella would be able to begin healing and moving on rather than acting as if it her past never happened.

I absolutely plan to read more of Jessica Sorensen’s books in the future!

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5

  1. I read this book about a week ago. I was a little hesitant because for some reason I was under the impression that it was darker than it was. But, I was pleasantly surprised. I really loved this story. I love stories about friends that get together. But, this was so much more than that. They had such a great story and I really felt for them and their issues they had to overcome.
I can't wait to read the next one that comes out for Ella and Micha.
