Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has lit me up like the Las Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

My Review:

This is my second attempt at writing a review for Obsidian. I managed to lose the first one *face palm* that was half written. And I actually read this book months ago but for some reason I’m having a hard time getting the review out of my head. I think it’s because there’s so much hype and so many reviews out there that I don’t know what I can really add to the mix. With that said, here’s a condensed version of what I thought.

First of all, I have to give props to Jennifer L. Armentrout (JLA)! I love when authors incorporate modern technology etc. into their books. JLA made a great decision (at least in my mind) to make the main character a book nerd and book blogger! What a smart way to include all of the book nerds of the world!

Second, this was my first experience reading an alien book. I was a little unsure whether or not I would enjoy it, but I definitely give it a thumbs up!

Third, I come back to the MC, Katy. I love that she stands up to the insanely hot and insanely annoying Daemon! She has a smart mouth which is fun to read.

Fourth, There are blogging references, hot aliens guys, bad alien guys, action, snarky comments, and some unexpected twists. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5

  1. Liked this review. It gives the book more of a mix. I've heard a lot about the hot guy and the smart mouth, but it sounds like there's a lot more to it, and I like that. Makes me more interested. Judith
