I have so many great Halloween memories, so I'll just choose one from the top of my head. When I was about 10 or so, I went to my friend's halloween party and they had a "haunted house" in their basement consisting of a scene from The Exorcist, except it was with a Beavis (from Beavis and Butthead)mask. I was still deathly afraid to go down, so I ripped my awesome coffin cape by trying to run back up the stairs.

We don't celebrate halloween where I am in Australia but my favourite halloween memory was when randomly one year when a little girl came trick or treating with her older brothers looking out for her, I thought that was so cute.
ReplyDeletebookdevoteereviews(at)hotmail(dot)com
Well, where I live we don't celebrate Halloween. But I've always watched it be done on T.V. and shows and wanted to it.

Thanks for the giveaway and for opening it to worldwide entries.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated.
Not much celebration of Halloween here (South Africa) although it is growing especially among the young., so I can't relate any memory of it.
Can say that I love the Great Pumpkin in the Charlie Brown comic strip !

I had my first date on Halloween night when I was sixteen. But that was actually the least memorable part of the evening. My mother had dressed up as an orangitang and her mask kept falling down so that she could not see. Then grandma and I both went racing for this house that gave huge chocolate bars, didn't realize there was a ditch and ended up on our butts in the grass. No wonder the poor guy never went out with me again -- he must've thought we were nuts. But despite how *bad* all of this might sound, we all laugh about it now.

Great giveaway Jen:) I am from Europe and we don't celebrate Halloween at home:( I know, it sucks..If we did I would surely dress up as a mermaid, though it would be pretty interesting to see me "walking" in that thing..LOL

ReplyDeleteI spent most of my youth in France where Halloween isn't that big of a deal so I don't really have fun memories that are specific to Halloween and could not have happened any other night of the year. But when I was 15 we convinced a friend's brother to get us into a member only club. We were all dressed up as elves and really did not look the part in there! But we got to watch a man dancing with his own reflection all night. ;)

My favorite Halloween memory is going to the haunted house with my friends when I was a kid. We were all so scared we screamed and ran through the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!

As you know, we don't really celebrate Halloween. But I once gave a 'Happily Never After' Halloween Bday party! Everyone had to get dressed like a fairytale character gone bad. And a friend of mine had dressed up her horse as a unicorn and took him with her for a short while! (The party was next to his stable!) So cool! I had a real unicorn at my party!
ReplyDeletereneevossenATgmailDOTcom
My favourite memory is of trick or treat-ing with my best friend. We decided to 'trick or treat' her house but her parents had run out of candy. Instead, her Dad presented us with 'magic apples' which turned out to be apples wrapped in silver foil. We were not very impressed!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for a great giveaway!

I only have a couple years worth of memory because I was already 14 when I got to the U.S. I guess my fave memory would be the year when I spent Halloween with my college friends and we walked almost all night.
ReplyDeleteHalloween isn't as big in the UK as it is in the US, but the year that stands out to me the most is the year me and Mr B went to a fancy dress party. He looked like a crazed Arab with his baggy pants and scarf wrapped around his head, and I went as his harem wife with an outfit I borrowed from an Indian friend of mine, who even helped me cover my face correctly and put beads in my hair. The entire night was an absolute hoot because at the time, Mr B worked as a dustman (garbage truck driver to you US folk), and we'd told everyone he was going in his work clothes and I was going in a bin liner as his bag of rubbish. They were relieve when we turned up in something else. :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway.

We don't celebrate Halloween either but last year me and one of my friends decided to have some fun: we carved pumpkins, ate lots of candies and caramel apples and watched a couple of movies together, it was fun. :)

Hi! Great giveaway! My favorite Halloween memory is dressing up as Hermione and going to a neighborhood that was all decked out in Harry Potter decorations and costumes! There was about ~5-6 blocks of houses (the streets were roped off) and they had decorated them based on sites in the book! They also gave away treats like butterbeer, etc. It was great!
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm in college, my fondest memory of Halloween is trick or treating in general. Now that I'm too old to go door to door asking for candy, I miss the free treats!
ReplyDeletebooks[a]muggle-born.net
I think it was about 20 years ago.... (whew I'm old.) We all went trick or treating in the rich section of town (they handed out WHOLE candy bars!!), we went to this one house, my grandparents neighbor no less, and they gave us stamps. Yes, postage stamps. It was the last year we stopped at their house. Really? What are a bunch of kids going to do with stamps? LOL
ReplyDeletehk11kira (@) gmail dot com
My favourite halloween memory was last year when my school organised a Halloween Ball and everybody came dressed up and then our teachers formed a band called the ghoul school and played all the songs for us to dance too - although they kept playing the monster mash and everyboyd would sing along - it was an awesome night :)
ReplyDeletehannahtwinn_415(at)hotmail(dot)com
Thank you so much for this giveaway!! And thank you for making it international!!
ReplyDeleteWe don't really celebrate Halloween here in South Africa. There is no trick-or-treating etc. but my family loves Halloween and we always make an effort at this time of year. My fav memory would have to be Halloween 2009. It was my grandfathers last time celebrating with us and he always got into the spirit of things! He loved making scary ghouls and monsters for us to decorate our home with :) and he was an extremely talented man! He made a huge "life-size" Frankenstein's monster and we dragged the thing around our neighbourhood. We'd place it st our neighbours's front door, ring the bell and hide in the bushes to see their reaction when they opened to find this monster waiting for them!! LOL It was the best!

We don't celebrate Halloween over here in Lithuania, but we have an All Saints' Day on November 1st. It's a somber occasion when people visit the graves of their relatives and light candles on them. My favorite memory is visiting a cemetery in the evening when it's dark and there are candles shining everywhere around.

Halloween wasn't such a big tradition when I was a kid, so... now that's actually celebrated, me and my friends get to behave like kids all over again! I think my best memory involves me attempting a combined disguise, a mixture between vampire and rock idol. The party was okay, but the best thing was the prepping and hair-doing and make-up-ing and... the laughs. Oh, the laughs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!

My son has special needs. One year I made him a knight costume with real "chain" mail. I needed a flashlight and batteries, so we ran to the store quickly before trick or treating. Every man that saw him, stopped him, and told him his costume was awesome. He was so happy that halloween. He wasn't able to trick or treat at more than a couple of houses, but he was so happy, it was his best halloween.
ReplyDeletetwoofakind12@yahoo.com
My favorite Halloween memory is the year that I trick or treated the whole town. I dont live in a very big town but the pride I felt as I looked at my 3 pillowcases full of candy i still remember. It was a huge feat for a 12 year old. :D
ReplyDeletemegnate at telus dot net
One Halloween i remember was when I was 4 or so years old, and dad and I were going around the neighborhood trick r treating when we realized that a cat was following us around. I have a big soft heart for cats, and so does dad, so we paid attention to it at first and figured it would head off when it got bored.
ReplyDeleteNope, it followed us the whole night so we adopted it and called it Pumpkin in honor of the holiday!

ReplyDeleteUm, I guess the best Halloween memory was when I was visiting my dad, I was about 12 and we went to on a Haunted Woods walk. I hate those kind of things and didn't want to go but I ended up freaking out the least. My brothers and sisters were holding on to me and my step brother fell in a puddle.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Halloween memory is my oldest daughters second Halloween(she was only 2 months old for her first). She was a pink and black fluffy kitty and I remember every time I drew whiskers on her face, she kept rubbing it off. We eventually got her to stop and went trick or treating. She was so scared to go up to the houses, it was the cutest thing ever!! And at almost every house, the person handing out the candy said that she was the cutest, sweetest kitty they ever saw! I love trick or treating with her and this year she is going as a Princess and her little baby sister(3 months old) is going to be either a penguin or a butterfly!
Happy Halloween & Good Luck Everyone!!

One of my favorite Halloween memories was last year. I took my brother and his friend trick-or-treating and we came to the best house in our neighborhood. You know that one house that goes all out? Yeah, this was it and we walked up the drive way passing a lawnmower pulling a wagon full of crying kids. We got to the door and after the boys had got their candy a man ran out with a chainsaw and a Jason mask. My brother and me laughed but his friend freaked out. He started running crying for his mom. This kid who always acted so tough just broke down and I felt kinda bad but I couldn't stop laughing. He ended up going home after that leaving my brother and me to go trick-or-treating alone.

I was seven. My mom's boyfriend was supposed to take us, but was working late. My uncle came over to do it, and took us everywhere. We needed three rooms to sort the candy. The mini chocolate bars alone took up the whole dining room table.

My favorite memory is when I dressed up as a witch and my little brother was winnie the pooh. We were so little and it was so much fun. e got four bags of candy that night! these books look great and my email is prettyhaydengurl@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite prank hmm.. one year my friend and I dug a trench in her yard next to the walkway going to her porch, when everyone was trick-or-treating she'd hid in the trench in a brown dusty slicker and I'd cover her with dirt, grass and leaves so everytime someone was going to the porch she'd jump up and scare them. We scared a lot of people.
